A short ride to Perry Florida

If you are from around these parts you'll wonder what on earth had us drawn to Perry. Well, the original plan was to head to Fanning Springs to a local restaurant we'd read about. Sounded great....but we got a spectacularly late start so....by the time we were rolling into Perry it was already 12:30. Both of us were very hungry and the thought of riding another hour or hour and half wasn't appealing.

Goodman's BBQ was a great place to stop and eat.

The prices are incredible - I looked at the menu and wondered if we went back in time.

Seriously, you can get a large BBQ pork sandwich with a side for only $2.70.

I was very tempted by the rib and chicken special but decided it would be too much food. I fall asleep on the back of the bike if I have a fully belly and it's warm. Always have done, on the Sportster, the Road Glide, the Road King and now the Tri-Glide.

I went with the BBQ chicken, baked beans and garlic bread, followed by peach cobbler. Doug had a pork sandwich and cole slaw. Our total bill was $15.57 with tip!

The decor sports deer heads, old signs and farm implements. The clientele wear mostly camouflage shirts and hats.

Up at the register to pay you can see more of the takeaway menu. Also, you can see they are supporters of the second amendment. Love the signs.

Goodman's BBQ restaurant helped provide food for the victims of a shooting at the Ford dealership in 2014. This dealership is right next door to the restaurant. You can read about that HERE and HERE. A deputy happened to be at the dealership when all this happened and saved a lot of lives.

Here is a close up - I think I want some of those for my office :-)

Now it's time to ride home. I have so much fun with this man :-) ♥♥♥♥

This trike was a great investment, we have a blast when we have opportunity to ride.

Scenery on the road:
On the rural roads we see many groves of pecan trees, they are on both sides of the road. I usually just admire the symmetry of the planting and the beauty of the trees but this time I managed to take a few photos.

I am not doing it justice- it's lovely.

And here are my cool cowgirl boots. One of my favorite pairs so far.

That's all for now. Hoping to ride to Eufala Alabama with our son this upcoming weekend for the best BBQ we have found. Hope the weather holds out.

  1. Don't you just love it when you happen upon a place and it's a hit, Tina!!! I can't believe the prices on that menu. I too like the decor however, I'm trying to control myself from laughing...seriously, falling asleep on the back of the bike, lol...

Good shots you have shared. Some food that we could actually dig into would have been better but at least you "guys" got to enjoy:)

Hope the weather holds out for you too. Have a ball!!!

  2. The menu has so many things I'd like to try, I guess I'd have to keep going back. And the prices are incredible, not like around here at all.

I love that you have so much fun on your trips and that you share with us. I LOVE those boots!

Welcome and thank you so much for visiting. If I don't answer you here I will get back to you on your blog. Also have had to switch to approving comments due to some SPAM lately. Alas...

It's been a good run...........
