This month I only have a few things to share from my North Florida kitchen. I love seeing what others across the globe have in their kitchen and gardens so I'll be sure to visit all the submissions. Here's a shout out to Sherry and I hope you are on the mend soon!
Ok, into the kitchen. I saw these on sale at our local grocery store. Normally we don't do much frozen food but with a name like Boomerang's Aussie Pies I couldn't resist! We have tried the mac and cheese one and it wasn't bad but I probably won't buy it again. It's nice backup for lunch in case we run out of options. Looking forward to trying the beef and chicken pies.
They are made with puff pastry so the crust is very nice and light.
Death Wish Coffee was an impulse purchase when we visited our son in Omaha. It was actually purchased online, not an Omaha staple. Tristan loves this brand and we love coffee so we decided to try it. It's very strong and so we have it as our first cuppa of the day.
For mojo we loved this brand called Mr. Mojo but I can't find it anymore. This brand Kirby is new to us but we like the Kirby black beans so hoping to like this mojo. We also had some Badia leftover.
This hazelnut spread was bought for upcoming brownie plans. At
I Heart Cooking Club they are featuring the recipes of Tieghan Gerard and her hazelnut brownie recipe attracted me right off. More on that treat later.....
Now that we are home and have been able to cook some healthy meals we have been enjoying vegetables and homemade fare. Restaurant food for several days got to us.
Here is a simple salad of lettuce, beefsteak tomato, fresh Parmesan cheese, cucumbers, scallions and red onion.
The weather is holding onto summer instead of moving into Autum so we have been able to eat outside on the porch quite a bit. This BLT on toasted potato bread made a semi-healthy lunch a few days ago.
Inside the kitchen you will find this living Hoover named Loki. He stands behind me and hopes crumbs or cheese or anything will fall from the counter.
I know just posted
this bread but I had to add it to my In My Kitchen roundup.

One of these days, I want to browse the new(ish) Trader Joe's here. It opened during the worst of the pandemic and I haven't been there yet... love to see the new products.
ReplyDeleteI might have to find some of that Death Wish Coffee for my daughter. It would make a great Christmas gift!
Loki is so sweet!
I just bought some "homeamde" chicken pot pies from a local bakery. They were good but the crust was so "lardy." Puff pastry would have been better. I have a colleague that will whip up a pot of Death Wish at times but he always puts a warning on it in! Loki is the cutest Hoover ever!
ReplyDeleteDebra, these were good because of the puff pastry but the mac and cheese filling wasn't phenomenal. This is our first rodeo with Deathwish!
DeleteLoki is so cute. thanks heaps for joining in with IMK this month. i am soooo slowly getting better. can't believe how long it is taking...
ReplyDeletecheers
Sherry Boomerang pies made me laugh...
Sherry, better just take it easy and let the body heal. Hope it's not too long for you. Thanks for your sweet comments!
DeleteMmmmmmm, that BLT!
ReplyDeleteI am Googling mojo because I've never heard of it.
Hi, Loki!
Stacy, you can make your own mojo but the Badia brand is good. If you get a chance, watch the movie Chef with Jon Favreau. The Cuban food in that movie will have your mouth watering!!
DeleteThanks, Vicki!
ReplyDeleteThe picture of Loki made me laugh. I'm curious about the Aussie pies! You can't go wrong with puff pastry. I like the Bao Buns from Trader Joe's but like you I try not to do too many frozen food things. Hopefully the mojo sauce will be good. I love Cuban food but haven't made any in way too long.
ReplyDeleteYummy additions to your kitchen. Your salad looks very much like the one I made last week (photo on my blog).
ReplyDeleteLove salads! The more things I can find in the fridge to add the better.
DeleteThe Death Wish coffee looks like something my S I L would like.
ReplyDeleteMelynda, it’s a cool online site for purchasing the coffee, they have neat mugs too.
DeleteMaybe you should have named him Hoover :) That BLT looks awesome! Was the bread photo your potato bread?
ReplyDeleteClaudia, that would have been an appropriate name! No, this was store bought potato bread, Martins brand.
DeleteAs Aussie as a beef pie.
ReplyDeleteNever heard that sentence applied to a mac and cheese pie!
Marg, clearly aimed at Americans! They weren’t bad but I probably won’t buy again.
DeleteLoki looks so cute and happy too. ;-) I think I need to try that coffee. Both your salad and sandwich look delicious -- thanks for sharing them with Souper Sundays this week.
ReplyDeleteDeb, the coffee is strong so hit the medium roast. I love hooking up with Souper Sundays!
DeleteA puppy is a great addition to one's kitchen. Looks like he's really become a part of your family.
ReplyDeletebest... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Mae, he’s still surly with some people but he loves us!
DeleteThe food looks great, and so does the potato bread sandwich!
