In my last post I mentioned some updates… I added Girlichef after visiting her site the other day. In addition to the recipes I enjoyed her post about the Mean People Suck bumper sticker. I remember seeing those. And you know, first hand experience about mean people landed on our doorstep several days ago. Here he is:
Whether you like cats or not – one of the most despicable things you can do (in my opinion) is abandon an animal to fend for itself. This guy appears to have been abandoned. He showed up, very hungry, and desperately wanting to be invited into the house. Our cat put up with him. But he can't come inside because our shibas are prey driven creatures and the poor guy wouldn't stand a chance.
He's gentle and I had originally thought he was declawed - but after capturing this guy and hauling him to the vet to see if he had a microchip implanted (he didn't) I asked if he was in fact declawed both front and back. He isn't declawed at all. He's just very gentle and allowed me to lift him and wrestle him into a cat carrier without drawing a drop of blood. Hell, my own cat would stick a toenail in me to keep from being put in the kennel!
So, the local county humane society worked with me and thankfully - they have found a home for him! He'll be picked up tomorrow and have a forever home where he'll be inside, fed and loved. Perfect.

Aw...you are definitely one of the good ones :D We're suckers for stray cats...can't tell you how many have found their way to our doorstep! Thanks for adding me!
ReplyDeleteThe abandonment of animals like that is totally reprehensible. I used to foster cats in Ottawa that had been abandoned in a similar manner. It's disgusting. I'm glad Hextall was tolerant, but I'm even more glad that the little guy found a good home!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet of you to take charge and care of that cute cat! Not maany people would have bothered. you are a saint!
ReplyDeleteI think that abandoning animals is AWFUL! Friends of my parents have a gorgeous dog who was dumped at the top of their drive way, just chucked out of the car. Not chipped/tattooed, nothing!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone. This isn't the first time it's happened and I'm certain it won't be the last.
ReplyDeleteWe've had many stray dogs come up to the house - some in such bad condition such as ribs showing and obviously scared - that we have hauled to a local vet who takes them in.
Hextall showed up one day and decided to stay - but he wasn't in bad shape. We've had him 13 years and estimate his age at 14 or 15.
One of the sad articles in the paper recently was about a woman who put her chihuahua out of the car and drove away with the little dog running after the car. This dog was wearing a collar and leash!
People suck sometimes.
