Giada's Rigatoni with creamy mushroom sauce for IHCC

Rigatoni Angel Hair Pasta with creamy mushroom sauce...an adaption of Giada's recipe.

Penne would have worked well too...and I honestly thought we had several unopened boxes of penne and/or rigatoni. But nooooooooo.....and I started the cooking process (with company in the house) before I checked my pasta situation. What a dope. How many times have I said, read the recipe thouroughly AND be sure I have all ingredients on hand.

No biggie....We had angel hair pasta and that did the trick.

I used these fat Portobellas and white button mushrooms.

The sauce came out creamy but after eating it for a bit....it started to gel as an alfredo consistancy. Very good though.

I don't have a photo of the dished up plate as my camera died after I started cooking. Fortunately it had charged by the end of the meal so I could get that shot of the creamy sauce.

A keeper? Oh yes! From Giada At Home – recipe HERE

I love mushrooms in everything, much to my daughter's horror. :)

Mmm, so comforting and satisfying! Is there anything better than a creamy mushroom sauce on a rainy day? I am making this tonight. Let's hope all this rain washes away the snow!

always like a good alfredo and mushroom sauce too - gonna have to check it out ... this is what I am sending to everyone - ....forgive me, but Mardi Gras has started and there are even fewer hours in each day... that does not mean I do not wish I could spend my time enjoying your posts, but that I am probably working to make festive times happen for others... don't forget me even if I am silent... good cooking and to those in the know, Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez!

MM - Me too :-)

Janel - Maybe your daughter will grow to love them. My son didn't like them when he was younger but does now. We don't get a great variety of mushrooms here but I love the portobellas. Mmmmm

Natashya - Is the rain better than the snow? Maybe it will wash the snow away, hope so. Hope you like the sauce when you make it!

Rita - Giada is fast becoming one of my favorites.

Katerina - It was really rich and yes, a hit all the way around. Thank you :-)

Country Cook - Thank you!

Drick - Ya know, I wasn't even aware it was Mardi Gras...my mind has sure been elsewhere lately. I won't forget you!

I want some of that creamy, earthy goodness for lunch today! Too bad I don't have any mushrooms and I'm much to lazy to go to market. Ah well...I'll just live vicariously through yours ;)

Thanks Deb!

Girlichef - I'd be so happy to prepare a dish for you :-)
