Pork Chops with Carmelized Onions from The Cook's Book

First, let me thank Sharon Olney for becoming a follower of my blog!

Awhile back I won this cool cookbook from Ruth who is the CEO of Once Upon a Feast and Presto Pasta Nights - see that post HERE

The Cook's Book by DK Publishers is fun to flip through, reading recipes, drooling over the photos....it was difficult to pick the first meal out of this one.

This is the before photo...ready to be popped into the oven

EASY to accomplish this meal...what do you need? I scaled down the amounts because it's just two of us.

Brown two pork chops in oil. While that's going on carmelize onions...I used butter on the onions.

In a baking dish place your browned chops and top with garlic, thyme, sage, the carmelized onions and place a bay leaf on top. Now add some butter.
Cover with foil.

Bake at 350 F for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Fresh from the oven......delicious...I promise you.

Served up with rice cooked in chicken broth, braised asparagus and good company.......this meal is a definite keeper.

You will not be sorry if you try this one!
Thank you Ruth - I will be making many dishes from this book!

This looks so good and simple! I'm sorry I didn't read it before I went to the grocery store this morning so I could've gotten the supplies.

I like that this recipe allows for the flavors of the onions and herbs to meld together slowly in the oven.

I like the sound of this a lot, in fact, it sounds familiar... sort of like the marinated chops with onion apple gravy I did a while back, only this looks much easier....

Don't caramelized onions seem to make everything a little more special? What a delicious dish!

Definitely one for the wish list. By the way, it's heavy...you could do a workout with this book. Lots of nice tips and recipes, lots of photos illustrating how to prepare something step-by-step.
