Foodies Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay

The Foodies label has three wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and a Merlot. We recently tried two of those. Haven't tried the Merlot as neither of us are big fans.

The Foodies Cabernet Sauvignon label states it has “a rich black fruits with subtle plum and mint flavors.” This California wine was a good value at World Market but……a little light for us.

You did get the mint but.... no overpowering black fruit. We had it with beef stew (recipe and previous post on that here) We won’t buy it again. I like a Cab but this one needed more punch...in my opinion.

The Foodies Chardonnay was very good and yes, we will buy that one again. We paired it with a Shrimp Scampi dish. A very good compliment to the food.

We'll grab a few bottles from World Market where they are having a good sale. Nice summery wine to have on hand.

From Shrimp Scampi

I sure look forward to warmer patio type weather.

Cheers!

  1. I love shrimp and that looks delicious. You'd love a Cahors red - it's almost black and has lots of body - uses Malbec. Too strong for me - but Si and Vin love it!

  2. Looks like you've been wining and dining a lot lately ;-) I'd love a glass of the white along with a plate of shrimp- yum!

  3. I've always been a much bigger fan of white than red anyway! This sounds so tasty.

  4. Jo - We love Malbec :-) Yes, lots of body.

Thanks Kim, we have found some good buys at World Market on wines. I am back to my "French eating plan" and have lost a wee bit of weight.

Joanne, I didn't like whites before and I think it was the unoaked Chardonnay that got me into them.

  6. good review, and looks like good eating too... thanks for the comment, my mind is totally absorbed in work now that Mardi Gras is in full swing and connection sassy, tom cat and pork was not working.... but I do know grilling would be even better, the marinade is actually based on a grilling sop recipe of mine...
