The weekly update
{ Pasta Alla Norma from Taste, a dead book blog & Albarino}

Books & Blogs / For those three of you that visit me on my book blog šŸ˜ šŸ“š  I wanted to let you know I’m going to let Turn the Page go dormant. I'll fulfill my current obligations to Netgalley (and others who have sent me complimentary books). Future comments on that site have been disabled.

Keeping two blogs updated has gotten tiresome and when something is no longer fun, it's time to stop. That said,  the last books read are The Lost Family: How DNA Testing is Upending Our Family by Libby Copeland (nonfiction) and Signal Fires by Dani Shapiro.

Signal Fires comes out October 18, 2022. I was given an ARC from NetGalley.

In the Kitchen / Pasta Alla Norma from Stanley's Tucci's book Taste. I love that book and have checked it out of the library twice.  So many good recipes in there as well as the entertaining stories.  Recipe may be found HERE

If you like eggplant and want a great vegetarian dinner - make this!  You will thank me.

Sipping /  This Burgans Albarino is from Spain and I wish we were sipping it in Granada or Majorca right now. It's light and I probably have too many glasses because it's that quaffable.

That's it for now.  Upcoming is a Chicken Philly Stir-fry recipe, starting Alice in Wonderland for Cook the Books and a RV trip into Georgia. I hope you are healthy and well in whatever part of the world you reside.  Off to catch up on Feedly!

Sharing with Marg The Intrepid Reader for Weekend Cooking and Deb at Readerbuzz for Sunday Salon.

    1. Thanks, Les. It's a campground we went to often, close to home. This is only my second Sharpio book and I enjoyed it. Inheritance was very good.

  2. Hope you'll still comment on books on this blog! I enjoyed the Tucci book too. Cheers

    2. Carole, if I comment on blogs using my phone it always comes up as Anonymous. Guess that's an iPhone thing because I never have trouble using my Android tablet. Yes, I will comment on books on this blog but not do detailed reviews as I had on my other site. I need to pick a "book day" to post!

  3. I will be very interested in what you cook for Alice in Wonderland. If you figure out how to make a cake that enables you to grow big or small, I'll love it. Or if you find a dormouse in your teapot.

    1. Mae, I am finding more food references than I thought i would, so far. I was also looking at a Moosewood cookbook last night and saw a recipe for White Rabbit Salad, maybe I ought to make that!

    2. The growing big part is easy with cake! It's the getting smaller part is more difficult! lol

  4. Vicki, if the blogging isn't fun anymore then I would take a break. I have done that in the past. Wouldn't delete your the blog though even if you quit. I check mine for recipes all the time and I have seen where some folks flat out delete their site.

  5. Your pasta dish looks delicious. I've been making a lot of pasta and eating it actually at room temperature this summer.

    1. Judee, I am a big fan of pasta and it can be so versatile. I think many people think of pasta with red sauce automatically. Tonight I am preparing an olive oil garlicy pasta dish.

  6. I wish John liked eggplant! I read your book blog. Just add your books to this blog so I can see what you are reading, we have the same taste. BTW I just read that Michael Melling, her boss, has gone "on leave" from his role as the head of CTV News after anchor Lisa LaFlamme's sudden departure.

    1. Jackie, maybe you can disguise the eggplant? Ha! This sauce is fiine enough he may not know it's eggplant but if it's a taste he abhors, you will be eating the entire batch. I will certainly mention the books I am reading here just not doing the big reviews anymore - that's what Goodreads is for, right? :-)

  7. I had wondered what was going on with your other blog! Makes sense! I just keeping my head above water with one blog so I can't imagine trying to keep track of two. I really want to read The Lost Family. It's such a fascinating subject.

  8. I am a simple person, so I like the idea of a single blog. I used to love to get books in the mail to review, but now I prefer to read whatever I want to read.

Ever since I started watching Searching for Italy, Stanley Tucci has been one of my favorite people. Taste is lovely, really lovely. I keep thinking I'm going to read The Tucci Cookbook soon.

Tina, please send me your mailing info to my email, debnance at gmail dot com, and I'll happily send Another Year of Wonder off to you.

    1. Deb, I started with a single blog for a genealogy project with cousins who lived in Virginia and Massachussettes as it was the easist way we could collaborate. Then I started inserting book and food talk and thus, the other blogs were born. Seemed like a great idea at the time!

I would love to watch Searching for Italy. If it's a program on DVD that's been out over a year our library will interlibrary loan it.
Thank YOU so much for the book!

    1. Sherry, you can always start one and see how much you enjoy it. I loved having two different sites - until I didn't. I kept my book blog on Wordpress for years before movng to Blogspot. If you don't like keeping up with two you can abandon one :-)

  10. If it's not fun anymore, you should stop yes and I can just imagine how difficult it must be to uphold two blogs. I struggle with one! And if you can incorporate everything in one site, why not.

Good for you for making the decision and I hope you will continue enjoying some great reads and still share them with us.

    Have a good week ahead!

  12. Vicki, it doesn't hurt it go dormant in case you want to revisit something or get a recipe. I was sad to see some people delete theirs as they had some good recipes.

  13. Hi Tina! It so nice to see your blog post.
We've been watching Stanley Tucci- I hear his autobiography book is excellent too.
AlbariƱo wine from Spain is so under appreciated here in the states. My smile was immediate when I saw your mention of what you were currently drinking.

Hope all is well with you!

  15. I had a couple of blogs as well thinking it would be beneficial and I realized I could barely keep one updated let alone two! So I definitely understand where you are coming from.
That Spanish wine looks divine. Yum.
I have never cooked with eggplant before but anytime I've had it I've liked it...I should try a recipe.
Alice in Wonderland is always a great classic to read. I hope you enjoy your week!

    1. Heather, it seemed a good idea to keep the book talk separate from the life blog...at first! I love eggplant and would probably make my husband sick of it if I made it once a week :-)

  16. Oh wow, I'll bet that was a hard decision to make about discontinuing the book blog. I can see how keeping multiple blogs going could be hard to keep up with.

I looked at the eggplant recipe. I wish I lived in big, metropolitan area with a cheese shop. I would never find Ricotta Salata in this two-horse town. I had to Google to see what it even was!

Looking forward to hearing about your RV trip and the Philly Chicken stir fry! Have fun and be safe!

    1. Jinjer, I substitute ingredients if I can't find them , especially if it's a good flavor match. Oh, a cheese shop would be amazing but I am in a rural area and if there is anything good to be had we drive to the "nice part" of Tallahassee.

Welcome and thank you so much for visiting. If I don't answer you here I will get back to you on your blog. Also have had to switch to approving comments due to some SPAM lately. Alas...
