Mississippi - BBQ and Scenery from a Bucket Truck

Vacation - Part Two

After 7 straight days of riding on a motorcycle....we landed in Mississippi.

Before we got there we stopped at this BBQ place. Mighty good chow there and lots of different BBQ sauces to choose from.

Doug's cousins have some very beautiful property in rural Mississippi. You could spend days just sitting and taking in the beauty of the land, watching the horses vying for attention at the fence and.....for a treat.....get a ride up inside a bucket truck!

Here is Doug and Paul about to get the adventure started. It was so very kind of Paul to take the time to give us that experience. He's a busy guy but he made time, and it was a blast.

Way up high

Then Aunt Ellen operated the truck..............there really isn't anything she can not do.

Aunt Ellen allowed me run of her kicthen while they were out and about on Sunday. I made Nigella's Maple Chicken and Ribs (recipe is HERE

This is a photo from much earlier but it's such a pretty photo of BBQ that I had to share it.

I just can't convey how totally relaxing this time was....spent with family....chillin' out. It's like stepping into a Norman Rockwell painting of time gone by, a simpler time....no rushing.
We plan to visit again before our son ships off for basic training, maybe another bike trip depending on the weather.

Food post tomorrow!

  5. Rita – Thank you for the nice comment! You won’t be sorry if you try those ribs and chicken. Baby back ribs worked very well for us.

Jo – No, no no…it’s not bad BBQ. Haha. Wish I could send you some but real BBQ is smoked and I don’t know if you have a smoker. Do you…bad girl?

Brenda – It’s a pretty state, in spite of what hurricane Katrina did to the southern portion. Yes…we had fun!

Kim – You summed it up – it really was good for the soul. Pure relaxation. I want to do it again.
