Amy's Goulash

I have been behind on getting my posting together. Seems it's gotten a bit more hectic at our place and we had a few repairs, photos to upload, nice weather that begs you to ride......so, here is a recipe shared by a friend that I actually made two weeks ago. Just got the photos uploaded ;-D

I've been wanting to participate in Magazine Mondays, Crock Pot Wednesdays, the I Heart Cooking Club and not to mention....answer email and comment on my foodie buds blogs! Not enough time in the day. So, once I evaluate what I can manage I'll be a bit more regular with posting. In the meantime.............

My friend Amy shared a recipe with me that is easy to toss together and as a bonus, you'll most likely have the ingredients readily available in your pantry.

Here is all you'll need....

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon Paula Deen’s House Seasoning
3 tablespoons soy sauce
3 bay leaves
2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
2 (15-ounce) cans diced tomatoes
2 (15-ounce) cans tomato sauce
3 cup water
3 cloves garlic, chopped
2 large onion, chopped
2 lbs lean ground beef
1 tablespoon Paula Deen’s Seasoned Salt
2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked

Directions

In a Dutch oven, saute the ground beef over medium-high heat until no pink remains. Break up the meat while sauteing. Spoon off any grease.

Add the onions and garlic to the pot and saute until they are tender, about 5 minutes. Add 3 cups water, along with the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, soy sauce, House Seasoning, and seasoned salt. Stir well.

Place a lid on the pot and allow this to cook for 15 to 20 minutes. Add the elbow macaroni, stir well, return the lid to the pot, and simmer for about 30 minutes. Turn off the heat, remove the bay leaves, and allow the mixture to sit about 30 minutes more before serving. Serve with garlic bread and a salad.

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour 35 minutes
Difficulty: Easy

  1. This is the kind of goulash my mom and aunt made as a kid. Of course, it always tasted better at my aunt's house!

  3. Good God - Paule Deen has her own seasoning line? Why am I not surprised? Man, I'll have to take a look for this next time I cross-border shop! The dish looks great!

  6. Thank you - I surely can not take credit as this was someone else's recipe. Wow, it was so easy.
I actually don't have any Paula Deen seasonings so I googled it, then made my own!

Glad to hear some of you are getting cooler Autumn temps....we actually had the windows open the past few nights - love it!

  7. yum...so is this what goulash actually means? I use that word for anything that is kinda all thrown together??

does it actually mean a dish with these particular ingredients?

I'm sorry if I sound stupid, I really have only used the term somewhat in jest...though I would use it for something of this nature...

in any case sounds great...I like the pasta being thrown in and cooking with everything else...I've never done that before.

I have more ground beef in the freezer to play with so I will perhaps do a variation on this theme next time with the pasta.

I just did something tonight that will be up in the next few days with another 1 lb of ground beef.

  9. Amy's goulash looks like a good autumn meal.. simply add a salad and you're done! And no, Pierce, I do not make my own croissants. I live i Paris and have SEVEN bakeries withing short walking distance from my home. I have never baked bread or croissants!

  12. MonicaJane I just left your site - that is a good looking enchilada casserole. Yes, I think the term goulash is used loosely and the pasta thrown in...easy and tasty.

Donna, Cathy and Girlichef - it is an easy one and comfort food to boot. Winning combo.

Laura - well, I have been jealous before of all the wonderful foods at your fingertips but wow - 7 bakeries in walking distance. le sigh! Sadly, and I do mean sadly, there are only 3 bakeries in a 27 mile area and they aren't always cream of the crop!

Welcome and thank you so much for visiting. If I don't answer you here I will get back to you on your blog. Also have had to switch to approving comments due to some SPAM lately. Alas...

It's been a good run...........
