Comfort food. So many dishes come to mind when I conjure that term. Unfortunately I caught a cold over the Thanksgiving holiday and so, comfort food means soup. At this very moment it does.
The theme at IHCC is comfort food (food to warm the belly, fill the soul) so Giada’s lemon chicken noodle soup is the star of my table at present.
Incidentally, the November movie selection at Food N Flixis Ramen Girl. While I planned a ramen noodle dish for this event, this bastard of a cold has ruined my plans, so I adapted the soup with a some cheap off-the-shelf ramen noodles.
In the movie, Brittany Murphy’s character learned the heart and soul of the Ramen Industry was not just the materials (the noodles and vegetables and broth) but the passion and creativity brought forth in her preparation of a Ramen dish.
A clash of cultures…she did not speak Japanese and was unfamiliar with customs….but it didn’t stop her.
Giada’s lemon chicken noodle soup meets Ramen Girl.
Yeah, it works. It’s comfort food.
For a slightly adapted Giada recipe, see the following link From Giada at Home, recipe can be found via Food Network HERE

I have made many variations of chicken soup, but have never thought of a lemon version, must be interesting - my favorite soup when I am sick is a roasted chicken version full of antioxidants and jalapeno to get the head cleared...if only I could find someone to make it for me, right?....
