Listening, reading, riding and watching

Some months back we decided to listen to the entire collection of Mozart whilst we sip a bourbon, handing out treats to Aja in the den. The first mention of that was in a post last month but we have actually been working our way through Mozart since December.

It's over. The collection still has many CDs but we are getting into the operas and well......just not into that. So, we started up again with James McMurtry and have abandoned old Wolfgang Amadeus for now.

Imbibing
Recently we picked up a few bottles of Barterhouse Bourbon. It's an Orphan Barrel so when it's gone, it's gone. How cool is this label? A fox with a derby hat and a briefcase.

Riding to Eulfala Alabama
We rode to Phil's BBQ in Eufala Alabama last Saturday. Tristan and his wife joined us. 270 miles round trip - great ride. Forgot to snap a photo of the amazing BBQ plate I had but here is the link to a previous excursion to Phil's - photos and all.

Reading
Recently I finished The Guest Room by Chris Bohjalian. Well written. Right now I am very engaged with Tana French's book Broken Harbor. She is one of my favorite authors, a great descriptive writer who nails the police procedurals and holds the suspense and mystery throughout the book.

Watching
Within the last month we watched 3 movies. Everest was well done and the fact that it's a true story interested me very much. Nothing I would ever want to do, climb a mountain, but I liked the movie. Man Up was a British romantic comedy, very silly but entertaining. In the Heart of the Sea was good....but you could see the special effects and know just where the green screen was used.

The garden is doing well and we were able to harvest some baby broccoli. It was so sweet and flavorful. That's about it. Looking forward to the weekend again, as always. I can't wait to retire but it will be a while yet.

  1. It looks like you're having a good time! I love your Mozart project and your move into opera and other things. The bourbon has a fantastic label and how cool is it that it's an orphan barrel. I'm always up for BBQ! Your trips sound like so much fun.

Katherine, Thanks so much! We don't have an exciting life but we sure have fun!

Louise, I have already put an empty bottle aside. Such a cool label. We only have one bottle left so it's going to be stored for a while.
