June already......as I get older it's crazy how fast the time gets away from me. I had a great birthday week and indulged in my favorites....no worries about calories or anything. Cheesecake, plain cheesecake with no toppings or any flavorings. That's what I like.
Doug made me blueberry pancakes and grilled dinner so....no work for me! Ok, I made bread but that's a pleasureable activity for me.
The best pancakes! 🫐 🥞
We enjoyed wine and watched Apollo 11 in the evening. Simple pleasures and I am fortunate :-)
Sipping / We tried a Silverado Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc and liked it very much. Already acquired another bottle for the cooler.
Reading/ Books eight and ten in the Inspector Vera Stanhope series. Not crazy about The Seagull but I enjoyed The Rising Tide. This last one is an advanced readers copy coming out September 6, 2022. A surprise at the end which made me sad.
This sounds about right.........
A shoutout to my friend Branch for advice on a puzzle toy for Loki. It was good catching up. I hope everyone had a good week!

Delicious-looking pancakes! The sourdough starter was fed last night, so it is time for us to have pancakes again! Maybe with blueberries and maple syrup, maybe savory. Your week looks good.
ReplyDeletebest... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Mae, sourdough pancakes sound great! Ours were a treat for sure.
DeleteHappy birthday 🎈
ReplyDeleteI’m partial to lemon cheesecake myself, much prefer it to cake
I need to watch the latest season of Vera.
Wishing you a great reading week
Shelleyrae, I do like cake but I like other desserts much more. Haven't seen the Vera series yet.
DeleteSounds like you had a wonderful birthday. Sometimes, it's important to not worry about calories and eating healthy. We were on a 3-week road trip and I decided to indulge in all the great food. Scones, donuts, Mexican food, cheeseburgers, beer, and Mexican Mochas. I also walked a lot. :)
ReplyDeleteI've had Ann Cleeves on my list of authors to try for a long time. I'm still catching up on Deborah Crombie's books, but maybe after that...
Hahaha! That cartoon of the campfire is spot on! We finally gave up on "real" campfires since the wood always seems to be wet, which means smoke. We now have a portable propane fire pit that puts out a lot of heat; I just wish it would smell like a campfire. :)
Les, our RV is in the shop to repair the black water sensor and something is off with the steering wheel. Should have it back soon. I like Cleeves series and still need ot finsih Shetland. Haven't seen the tv series yet,
DeleteWe enjoyed watching the tv series of Shetland. Regarding your black tank sensor, ours hasn't worked since the first trip out after we bought our RV (new). We've tried all sorts of remedies (ice in the tank, Dawn dish soap, etc.), but we've learned to live with it reading full at all times. From what we've read on the forums, those sensors are rarely accurate anyway. We can pretty much tell that it needs to be emptied when the gray tank is full (that sensor has never given us trouble). So far, no problems... Hope you get yours fixed, but I'd definitely want the steering wheel fixed! Yikes!
DeleteHappy birthday! All the food is making me hungry... :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Greg!
DeleteHappy Birthday! I go through stages with Ann Cleeves!
ReplyDeleteJackie, I couldn;t get into her recent series Two Rivers but I have enjoyed Vera. Thanks for the birthday wishes :)
DeleteYou had an A+ birthday, I think. Look at those pancakes. Wow.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your thoughts on wines. I'm writing down Silverado Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc on my list of wines to try.
I've never read Ann Cleeves. Thanks for the heads up.
Deb, I did indeed have a good celebration. Another good Sauvignon Blanc we had recently is the Groth label. That's a good one.
DeleteThe pancakes look amazing! When we lived in Memphis I had only brought the necessities for the kitchen so I didn't have my griddle and pancakes were what I missed most. I don't do them well on a skillet and they don't do well as takeout so the first week we were back I made pancakes! I like cheesecake plain too. It's funny - when I was younger I liked really chocolatey desserts but as I've gotten older I prefer lemon-y or simpler flavors. Have a wonderful week and happy belated birthday!
ReplyDeleteKatherine, same here. I still enjoy chocolate but a plain cheesecake is great. Pancakes are my favorite treat breakfast. I'm not too handy with the skillet ones either.
DeleteThank you, Vicki! Pancakes are my favorite for a breakfast traet. French Toast comes in a very close second.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! A friend of min enjoy Cleeves. I need to try.

Emma, I don't like all of Cleeves series but i do enjoy Vera :-) Thanks for visiting.
DeleteHappy birthday! I like cheesecake however it's served--plain, with a simple compote, or a Cheesecake Factory extravaganza. Your pancakes look delicious! They made me hungry but then I remembered that my husband is taking me out for brunch tomorrow on his day off. Yay!
ReplyDeleteIt seems that we share a special talent :-D
Enjoy your week!
Jen, I've never been to a Cheescake Factory but I hear the servings are huge. Brunch sounds great!
DeleteBelated birthday wishes...sounds like a pretty perfect week to me!
