Books and movies!

The weather has been up-and-down this week.  Several nights of freezing temps in the upper twenties and then 78 F on Thursday afternoon.  For the freezing nights I brought in as many plants as I could, thus littering our living room with leaves everywhere.  At least it motivated me to sweep up once they were all taken back outside.

The round up for the week is slim but here goes.........

Watching / Unforgotten is a British program on PBS Mystery Theater.  This is a police procedural starring Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhasker as lead detectives.  They are trying to solve cold cases and I think the cast and the twisty mysteries were very well done.  I hope I can borrow a few more seasons from our library's inter-library loan program as they only own season one.

We finished Magpie Murders and enjoyed it.  Looking forward to the next production called Moonflower Murders.

Reading / This week I tackled Scottish crime writer Val McDermid's book 1979 and have 1989, the second in the series, on hold at the library.   Currently reading Moonflower Murders by Anthony Horowitz.  It's been a Brit binge on watching and reading.

On the menu this week......
Grilled Red Fish, roasted potatoes and green beans
A Mediterranean "board" meal with assorted figs, dates, cheese, proscuitto and hummus
Mojo chicken with black beans and maduros

    1. Vicki, Our library system has a similar app called Kanopy. there are over 60,000 tv programs/movies availble but we can't stream. I wish we could! For us it's strictly DVDs we own or those we borrow. Thanks for the suggestion though!!

    1. Mae, mojo is a Cuban marinade made with garlic, oranges, olive oil and herbs. It's mild, not spicy.

  5. We absolutely loved Unforgotten! We went on a British crime binge early in the pandemic and that was one of our favorites. If you haven't watched Mrs. Wilson I really recommend it. It's based on a true story (don't Google it before you watch it) and it's crazy. I had a Mojo chicken recipe that was one of Jason's favorites that I haven't made in ages. I'll have to go find the recipe!

  9. My husband is crazy about mysteries. I'm not sure whether he has seen Unforgotten, but I'll mention it to him. My daughter-in-law loves cold cases, so I'll see if they've seen Unforgotten, too.

Wow, and your reading is mysteries from the UK, too. Perfect for this sort of weather! Enjoy!

  15. Oh, how we loved Unforgotten. I will watch anything with Nicola Walker! We're currently watching Magpie Murders, which is so clever and fun. Yes, I read the book, but I sure don't remember whodunnit! I'm sure we'll watch Moonflower Murders, so maybe I'll skip the book since I have so many others calling to me. Oh, and we've also gotten into The Brokenwood Mysteries.
