Parmesan Wings and the Cookbook Countdown fail

Just recently I was chatting with Debbie at The Friday Friends and mentioned I got into a rut with the Cookbook Countdown. Seriously, I only have a few cookbooks I have posted from so far and then....the big lull. It wasn't as if I weren't grabbing a cookbook and preparing something. I just neglected to write about it.

Then I started the big purge. We wanted to swap out the furniture in the two bedrooms as one was much larger and better for a guest bedroom. We had been using it as the "catch all" room and it had a computer, card table and lots of books. Mainly cookbooks. Well, during the course of my goal to cook something from each one and then decide whether it stayed or went to a charity shop, I opted for a massive culling.

Moving all those books off the shelves made me recalculate the value of all those books (as well as other miscellaneous items). Bags and bags of books left the house.

One book that left was a company cookbook. You know the sort where members/employees submit recipes and they publish all the recipes with the names of the folks and which department they work in? Yeah, this recipe comes from my workplace.

This particular book is outta here now! I didn't want to post the cookbook because then you'd know where I work. That's just not important.
But it did provide me with three very good recipes. Here is one of them.

Parmesan Wings

Ingredients......

4 pounds chicken wings
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 Tb parsley
1 TB dried oregano
2 tsp. paprika
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp. red pepper

Method

Preheat oven to 350 F. Line a shallow baking pan with foil. Keep the wings whole cut into drummettes.
Melt butter in shallow bowl. In a separate bowl combine all the dried ingredients.

This is the seasoning mixture before I gave it a good stir.

Dip each wing into butter, roll in seasoning mixture and arrange on the foiled pan. Bake for 1 hour at 350 F.

So. Easy. I love easy recipes. Not that I mind fiddling in the kicthen but wow....these are soooo easy. We served them with Bourbon Baked beans and leftover ribs and salad.

So, there is my story about the Cookbook countdown. It's as if I failed at a New Year's Resolution by the end of January. Haha...doesn't matter, I have a clean room now and very orderly cookbooks. Quite pleased with myself and the bonus is, the books will be sold at a charity that is specific to assisting homeless pets and helping people who can't afford to spay or neuter their pets. If it's for animals that works for me.

  1. Oh my goodness, Tina, you toted off books to another place???? What if there were some I don't have??? I realize books do have to be toted every now and again, I even tote my doubles to the book sales but, there may have been a book or two in there I wanted, lol...

I thought it was so funny that you didn't post your company cookbook. I still wonder if I should post mine and I'm retired, lol...

I LOVE Parmesan Wings. and these are nicely seasoned too. I actually have chicken in the crock as we speak. I saw a recipe on Pinterest for Brown Sugar Chicken and my daughter said I had to try it!

Thanks for sharing this recipe Tina, and for joining Cookbook Wednesday. Now I'm off to say hi to Debbie and make sure she isn't tossing any cookbooks, lol...

  4. Sometimes those company, church, club cookbooks are really good because people share recipes that they know will work. We love wings and this recipe does look really easy.

I need to cart a ton of books out of this house too .... cookbooks included.

  7. I love wings and these look like an interesting flavor twist! I'm trying to cull my cookbooks as well because I just have far too many. I've started being far more careful about the ones I actually purchase as well. Sounds like you donated to a great charity!
