Stormy weather......

Storms. One of the things we don't love about living in Florida.  There are several churning about now and the gulf waters are heating up rapidly.  I expect there will be many storms in September, our busiest month for hurricanes here.

Rising homeowners insurance costs, politics, rewriting history and giving children a less than stellar education, leprosy and humidity. But we are an income tax free state, so far.

  1. I have a new appreciation for the fear of hurricanes ... after Tropical Storm Hilary hit in Calif. Luckily it didn't cause the damage expected in our area ... but while it's going on you don't know what will happen. I hope you don't have any direct hits to your area this season. It's worrisome just thinking of it. Stay safe.

    1. Thanks, Susan. I think I was a bit frustrated when I hit Post yesterday :-) Looks like the one in the gulf is haeding west (Sorry Texas) and who knws what the others will do.

  2. Hmmm, maybe Oregon would suit you better. :) Of course, you'd have to invest in flannel shirts, sweatshirts, and rain gear. Seriously, I hope you get through this hurrican season without any problems. It must be such a worry. Take care!

    1. Les, Oregon would be amazing! We'll need to visit one day. Sweatshirts most of the year would suit me :-) I am still looking forward to the October visit to Lincoln. Tristan said the zoo was good and we will want to take our granddaughter there.

    2. I haven't been to the Lincoln Children's Zoo in years, but it quite nice. The Omaha (Henry Doorly) zoo is very nice, too. You should have nice weather in October! If you want good Mexican food, try Las Margaritas or Hacienda Real. I miss those places!

    3. Les, I will tell the kids about the Mexican places. Tristan told me there are loads of Chinese place too instead of the strip mall variety we have here. We even looked at a house in our price range :-)

  3. Oh, I hear you and feel exactly the same - especially since Hurricane Ian! I never want to be there during hurricane season again, plus it's staying really hot well into November now. Fingers crossed for everyone these next couple of months!!

    1. JoAnn, some days I get frustrated and probably should stay off my blog, ha! It seemed to pile up with a bunch of little things yesterday. We are stocked with good pantry supplies in case we get slammed. The only hurricane we ever evacuated from was Micheal.

  4. I'm not looking forward to any hurricanes and it's worrisome that so many are out there and could head right toward us. I was without electricity for 3 weeks once and lost everything thing in my pantry, fridge/freezer, and upright freezer. It was a huge money loss! Plus we had to relocate until the electric came back on which was ok for the first few days but then I just wanted to go home.

  5. It has been such a weird summer it's going to be interesting to see what hurricane season does. It's been crazy hot here lately. I normally do pretty well with the heat but I barely made it through agility class last night. Come move to Alabama! We aren't income tax free but the cost of living is low and hurricanes rarely mean more than a few days of storms. And to my knowledge we don't have leprosy - at least not currently.

    1. Katherine, you made me laugh about the leposy comment :-) We had considered Alabama a while back. I'd love to get some colder weather but not sure we can move anyway with the interest rates so high!!

Welcome and thank you so much for visiting. If I don't answer you here I will get back to you on your blog. Also have had to switch to approving comments due to some SPAM lately. Alas...

It's been a good run...........
