Tailgate Thursday at Drick's Rambling cafe was kind enough to include our Key Lime grilled chicken at his virtual tailgate party. Thanks Drick!

I am thankful you can schedule posts for the blogs.....last few days have been hectic. Our little girlie shiba inu, Aja, has luxating patella which in English means her knee cap moves away from where it ought to be. This causes her to limp. Thursday she will be visiting the doctor again for a thyroid test. A thyroid issue may explain the weight gain, the aversion to heat and hot weather and the sad look she sometimes gets.
It's been difficult to get her out walking when the temps are topping 96 plus degrees (37 C) with thick humidity. And she's not a pet...she's family. As is Kobe and Hextall and all the animals we've had through the years.
I'll be posting recipes again this week........
Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends!

What sweet pictures! I hope she's OK. I know how stressful pet issues are...Remember my whole Juno episode in June...They ARE way more than pets, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteI have 2 bad knees and my knee caps move, sometimes a lot, when I least expect it, so Aja has my sympathy!
ReplyDeleteHave you given her any supplements, like fish oil or Glucosamine and Chondroitin? Works wonders for my large breed dogs which are prone to orthopedic problems.
Hope the Dr's appt is good news!
Oh definately WC, they are like our kids. I wish I could have them on our HMO!! I sure do remember Juno'snissues and very happy she's well now.
ReplyDeleteMichelle - thank you for the advice and sorry to hear you have that knee issue. OW! We do give the fish oil but that was mostly for her coat and her itching problem. Seems the cream shibas have skin issues. I'll be glad to get that tyroid test for her :-)
Ah......the puppy is adorable :) Hope she's feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures of your four legged companion. Hope Aja's problem will be solced after the visit to the vet. Check Aurea's logo of A Girl with a Dog with a Blog, you can download it and place it in your blog. It's very cute

Hope the doctor's appt. is good news. It's always sad when animals aren't feeling well. If only they could talk to you, wouldn't that be nice? I'm sure she's getting lots of love and attention in the meantime. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI hope your baby is feeling better and that the doctor visit went well. Those sad faces just make my heart melt.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! Aja has us concerned but I think with meds she may be fine....there will be surgery needed eventually for the kneecap but we are hooing that won't be for awhile.
ReplyDeleteI was going to make chili in the crock pot tonight but that is probably going to wait until morning! It's 11 PM and I'm tired.
Aww bless her, I'm with her after wrenching my knee last Wednesday doing something stupid :o(
ReplyDeleteLaquet...well, I have to know...what did you do? :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweetheart! Hope the doc can give her something to make her better.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words but my thoughts go out to Aja. Sometimes they are more than family members if that is possible, they depend so much on us. Hope the Doc and meds will help...keep us imformed
ReplyDeleteOf COURSE she's like family! My pets are my kids. Keep us posted - I really hope she's better.
ReplyDeleteThank you Drick, Tasty Trix and Chickenless Chick for the kind words about little Aja.
ReplyDeleteWe took her for her thyroid test today. Keep you all posted!
I will be thinking of you and your dog...I hope everything is ok.
ReplyDeleteoh no! I hope she's okay, she's such a cutie too I hope she gets well soon
