Nature's Pride Bread

Foodbuzz hooked up the featured publishers with a chance to try this Nature's Pride bread. Thank you!

It arrived via FedEx and was I ever surprised to receive not just one loaf but two in the box. Yippee! The dilemma came regarding which loaf to freeze. We didn't want It to go bad...and there is usually just the two of us.....so we opted to try the 12 Grain bread first.

This bread is all natural and one thing that immediately impressed me was....no high fructose corn syrup!

The first thing I wanted was a a picture frame egg. I actually don't know the name of it...is it Toad in the Hole? Well anyway, it's not gourmet fare...not fancy...but fun food. You start with a slice of bread and cut a hole in the middle.

Like this.......

Heat the frying pan and butter the bread or just toss a pat of butter in the pan. Now add egg into the hole.

What you will have after you've carefully flipped the bread and egg is a lovely ooey-gooey-over-easy egg all bundled up in great toast.

Again, this isn't fancy fare but it sure is comfort food. Now, what else is a comfort to have in a flash with the whole wheat?

Peanut butter and Jelly!!!

Doug prefers grape jam....I like many kinds, strawberry, grape, apple butter and especially marmalade.

I have also spread Nutella on the toasted bread. Very good.

I've seen other folks who have made yummy looking chicken salads to try the bread but....I kept it pretty simple.

Thank you Nature's Pride and Foodbuzz!

  1. I've never made a Toad in the Hole before. Actually, I don't think I've ever ate one before either. But I bet my son would love these.

  4. Except the Canadian featured publishers get didley squat!

We call those elephant eyes - definitely not toad in the hole (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toad_in_the_hole).

  9. Toad in the hole is sausages in batter ... almost like sausages in a huge Yorkshire Pudding. Great recipe for it here.
I've loved that thing you did since I saw it on the Cher film Moonstruck, Olympia Dukakis cooks it (click here) the morning after ;o)

  10. OK everyone, let's just clarify here:

What Pierce posted about - the egg in the bread - is NOT toad in the hole.

This is toad in the hole:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toad_in_the_hole

As you can see it's sausage & Yorkshire pudding.

Just want to keep things clear because there are a lot of oddly named British dishes out there and I really like to try to educate people about them since I have quite strong British heritage and grew up with a lot of these names being bandied about!

Welcome and thank you so much for visiting. If I don't answer you here I will get back to you on your blog. Also have had to switch to approving comments due to some SPAM lately. Alas...

It's been a good run...........
