Cottage time is over - only nine days until we head home!

Cottage time is over and we are back in the RV.  Actually we like it better in the RV and while the screened porch was nice, we'd rather "tough it out" in limited space.  Loki is less nervous now as he knew the RV as a home base. Sometimes it's hard having a rescue dog who was abused and has low confidence. That being said, he's made enormous improvement with us these past 4 months.

New to us / Doug has a very cool new griddle.  It's a 22 inch Blackstone and runs off propane.  So far we are loving it.  More on that upcoming as we've had some great meals cooked on that bad boy.

Reading / In May I finished five books. One of the fun ones was Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.  I still like his first book The Martian best of his three publications but this one was pretty good.  I can see it  being a movie.
Normal People by Sally Rooney was interesting as well.  Set in Ireland and delves into personal relationships and drama.

So far for June I have only finished News of the World by Paulette Jiles.  I loved it.  Can't wait for the movie.

Watching / Greenland with Gerard Butler (cool disaster film), Pixie with Alec Baldwin (very quirky, setting is Ireland) and Chef with Jon Favreau (a favorite and I always want Cuban cuisine after watching this gem).

Upcoming / We go home in 9 days and I am looking forward to that, unpacking and filling the kitchen with all the pots and pans in boxes.  It will feel like a palace with so much room after living in the confined space for 6 weeks.

  1. That food looks yummy! I'm glad your Loki is feeling a bit better about things. So tough. I hope he keeps getting better and better and more relaxed. Poor little guy.

Looks like you read some great ones this month! I have Project Hail Mary on my list. It'll be awhile before I get from the library. But can't wait till I do.

I love Chef! Such a great little movie. Greenland has been on my list. I'll have to make sure to watch it soon.

I hope you have a lovely week!

    1. Heather, Greenland was a good disaster movie and with Gerard Butler, I was going to watch it. Hail Mary had some tedious parts as Weir explained too much science but overall I liked it. Would make a cool movie.
Thanks for your comment about Loki. We spoil him 🙂

    1. Mae, he is flying first class now! Yes, we will be happy to get home & I’ll have to post before and after photos. We have been home to visit recently & it looks like a completely different kitchen.

  3. Vicki, I hope the Karma Bus runs the folks down who abuse animals. It takes so long for them to trust and get over some of their fears.
Can’t wait to see News of the World and I love Tom Hanks in every movie we’ve seen him star. Chef is great!
    I recommend the grill!!!

  4. I am a big fan of News of the World. I thought the movie was just as good as the book. I was surprised that the girl in the movie was such a good actress.

We don't have a grill, and I wish we did. Further, I wish my husband wanted one, and was willing to use it!

    1. Deb, that's great to hear about News of the World. I thought that was a great book and I will be lookign for more by Paulette Jiles. As soon as I work thtough the current stack from the library and used book store.

The griddle is different from the grill and Doug likes it so much that he's used it more on our trip than he has the grill. I love the way the food tastes and everything is ready at the same time.

  5. I've had New of the World on my radar for a long time, but haven't managed to read it yet. Glad Loki is settling in and feeling more comfortable... it's along process, but so worth it!

  7. I liked Normal People, but decided not to tell people to read it because of all the sex. Oh my. Hope you enjoy your last few days before you get back on the road.

  8. So glad Loki is feeling calmer. He seems more confident just in the pictures which is nice to see. I'm sure you are counting days till being home! I was really convinced we should downsize until we spent 6 months in a tiny apartment and I realized how much I love my house and my space! Oh I like the idea of a propane griddle. I bet Jason would love that and I can see it being really versatile. I'll have to look into it. I need to email you but it has been a crazy couple of weeks and I'm just starting to come up for air.

  9. I just looked at that Blackstone griddle and am so tempted! We just bought a new ladder for the rv and it weighs over 30 lbs. Our new propane fire pit is somewhat heavy with the separate propane tank, so I'm not sure my husband will be too enthusiastic about adding more weight to our rig. It looks pretty awesome though. Maybe I can convince him that the 17" is worthwhile...

I've got Project Hail Mary on my list and keep reading positive reviews for it! I loved News of the World (read it twice) and enjoyed the movie, but not quite as much as the book. The young actress is outstanding, though. Enjoy!
