What's been going on....
(painting, reading and watching)

The house painting is not complete but I thought I'd share a photo showing the color difference.  The painters handled all of the house with the exception of the second floor.  Tomorrow we are supposed to have a crew over using a platform and rock climbing ropes to access the upper story.  The metal roof is slippery, no grips as you'd have with shingles.  I think the addition of black gutters will be a nice touch.

Watching / Confess, Fletch was a funny movie.  I don't know why I didn't have high hopes for it but we gave it a shot after it was available at the library.  Jon Hamm is the main character.  They reunited him with Mad Men's character Roger, John Slattery.

Just started Bloodlands, a crime drama set in Belfast,  Northern Ireland.  We are enjoying it and I have already asked for the second season.  Apparently season 3 is airing now.  As I mentioned about a previous show, be careful about googling for any info as you don't want a spoiler.

After we finish Bloodlands we will check out Line of Duty.

Reading / Lisa Jewell's latest book None of This Is True which I won from Goodreads. Yea - Free books!  It's to be published August 8, 2023 in the U.S.  I've read ten of her books before but not sure anything can top  Then She Was Gone or The House We Grew Up In as those are my favorites.

More updates later......

  3. Vicki, we had asked for Cape Cod gray 15 or so years ago and the painter must have been color blind! We ought not to have paid him, but we were younger and not smart about that :-)

  4. Oh, that new paint looks wonderful! Black gutters will really pop against that color. Yay! I liked Jon Hamm in Madmen, but haven't heard of this movie. I'll see if my husband wants to watch it with me. We have Bloodlands on our (HUGE) tbw list. Glad you're enjoying it. We've watched two seasons of Line of Duty and really enjoy the show. Have you watched MI-5/Spooks? If you like LIne of Duty, you'll probably like MI-5.

  5. I love the new paint color and I think the black gutters will look great. It'll give it a nice definition. I love Lisa Jewell but haven't read either of the books you mentioned but I'm bumping them up on my reading list.

  8. I'm adding Bloodlands to my list of series tbw-ed. You led me to Unforgotten, and we loved that series. Unforgotten led me to Annika, another fabulous series.

This, for me, is one of the things I love about blogging. The serendipity of finding the best in the world.

Your house's new color is beautiful. There's something great about a new coat of paint.

    1. Deb, I agree with you, if it weren't fr my blog connections I wouldn't get suggestions for tv shows, books or cooking. I was one of the dinosaurs who isn't on facebook/twitter/instagram so this is my social connection :-)

The house looks so completely different now, I'll post photos!

  11. Good progress on the painting.
I've also learned to be very cautious about what I look up about shows before I've finished watching them.
I'll be interested in your report of the latest Lisa Jewell novel.
