My husband celebrated a birthday in the middle of the month. We are rather low key when it comes to holidays and birthdays. No gifts and usually no dinners out...that is, unless the birthday person would like to celebrate out somewhere.
With most birthdays, mine and his, we pick a good dinner plan and stay home. It's not just because it's inexpensive, it's because you can control the quality and quantity of the selected meal.
Creamy Asparagus Parmesan Risotto
Wine selection was a very nice St Emillion
Dessert was flourless chocolate cake a small amount of port. What a combo - port and chocolate are such a natural marriage. No photos of this one ...probably because we were in our cups by then!
Nice dinner, great company...another celebration with someone I love.

ReplyDeleteYes, you can definitely monitor the quality of the meal. We used to go out a LOT. Now, it is more fun to stay home and cook together. We have spent a lot of money on meals at highly anticipated restaurants that were mediocre at best. Happy birthday to your hubs!
