Sunday Salon - Did you turn back your clocks? 🕰

It's that time of year when the clocks get turned back.  Messing with our time and causing me aggravation trying to change the clock in the car. I just wish they'd pick one time and leave it there.

Social media changes / I'm no longer on any of it.  I did have Instagram for awhile but took umbrage with a privacy issue.  The only one left which I previously enjoyed was Twitter.  After 7 years I have deleted my account there as well.  So.....just blogspot, LibraryThing and Goodreads for me :-)

Kitchen happenings / This past week I posted about an Apple and Honey Rice Kugel which did not work out for me. I will stick with the Moosewood Collective noodle kugels in the future. Trying a chicken stew recipe from Taste of Home this week.

Tech stuff / I posted a request for suggestions on how to add a separate URL to this blog so I may keep my book chat separate.  So far I can't figure it out and suspect I will just post about books one day a week. If you have any suggestions please read this post and let me know!

Books / I finished these two in the past 9 days:  Secrets Between Friends and The Lost English Girl. I also had two DNF titles and have now moved on to Twenty Years Later by Charlie Donlea as recomended by Jackie McGuinness

  1. l love Julia Kelly's books....The Lost English Girl looks good.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for coming by my blog from Carole's post.

The Lost Ticket is a very uplifting book....a few tear-jerker moments, but overall a good one.

  3. Getting off social media is a great thing to do. I got so disgusted with Facebook I simply abandoned it 4 or 5 years ago. Didn’t delete anything, just never signed on again. Never was on Twitter, but now is a perfect time to quit that too. Their role in election fraud and abuse is unbelievable.

    1. Mae, Twitter was my favorite for news and connecting with book friends. Oh well, it ran it's course!

  4. Loved the video! I like getting the extra hour!
I could never get into Instagram. Facebook is where I mainly get recipes. Twitter I look at when I get up to see if I missed anything overnight. Bloglovin' (when it works) for blogs I follow.

    1. Jackie, I keep up with blogs via Feedly. Bloglovin' always bogged down for me, probably my connection.

  5. I haven't used Twitter or Instagram in a very long time and I'm very close to stop using Facebook.

  6. I have the Donlea book on my TBR so will be curious to hear what you think. Social media is a tough one. I tried Twitter for a minute, but just never figured it out and now - nope. IG I rarely post anything but keep it because my kids use it and I can see what they're up to. Kind of the same with FB, though I do post my review posts there when I read something I think my reader friends would like. Otherwise I just scroll on by. Unfortunately I don't know enough about how hosting works to help you with your URL issue. Sounds like a good idea, but.....no help here. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
    Happy Reading.

    1. Terrie, I am enjoying the Donlea book very much. I have already grabbed another of his books from a local used bookshop. Ugh, sometimes I want to say, forget the blogging. Say goodbye and read book and don't take foodie photos. Maybe I should take a break!

  7. I know what you mean about social media. I have scaled back the time I spend on Facebook. Now that Twitter is unregulated, I doubt I'll stay with it. Wasn't much in my life anyway. I lost my TikTok password and don't care enough to figure it out. Never did Instagram. I do love Goodreads, most as a way to keep myself organized.

  8. I think the video I just linked to on your other post might be the ticket. You "add an external link" to the Pages tabs.

I hate when recipes look so good and so promising and then they don't work. My recent zucchini quiche disaster makes me sad. It wasn't exactly fun thinly slicing all that zucchini!!! I'm just glad I had purchased pre-shredded cheese and Pillsbury pie crust.

These time changes make NO sense for any of us with cats. We live by their internal clocks.

    1. Thanks, Jinjer! I agree about the time change. Our pets don't get why you wnat to feed them later. I have been adjusting by a half hour until everything sorts itself. That sucks about your zucchini dish. Been there, hate tossing food but sometimes it's not salvagable.

  9. It looks like everyone I know is leaving social media like crazy. I think this is a fascinating development.

Secrets Between Friends and The Lost English Girl and Twenty Years Later all sound like good reads.

Love the time change video...hate the time change!

  10. I've actually thought about going back to Goodreads and using it more since I'm disenchanted with how things are going on Twitter. And the time change always messes with my internal clock and takes me a week to adjust! :)

  11. I think getting off social media is for the best. I still use facebook and instagram occasionally but the less I look at them the happier I am! I like to keep things as simple as possible so I'd just declare one day a week book day and not worry about the urls! I adore the time change this time of year. I finally feel like I get caught up on sleep for a little while and I don't mind the dark though I know so many people who do.

It's been a good run...........
