Sunday Salon - Welcome April!

Here we are in the first week of April and I can't believe how fast it seemed to arrive. As usual I probably waited too late to plant tomatoes but I will most likely give it a try as soon as I can get to the nursery.  Weird weather patterns have us sitting outside to enjoy dinner one night and driven inside by freezing temps later in the week.  That certainly hampers gardening plans.

Life stuff / Doug had his eye surgery this week. A vitrectomy which was succesful.  He can’t drive now as he's recovering. He came out with an eye patch - very roguish as a pirate. This eye surgery is the result of the torn retina back in November so hopefully all is repaired now.  Amazing what advances we have in medicine these days.  Fifty years ago he would have gone blind so I am thankful to Dr. Steinmetz and his expertise!

The Loki Chronicles / Loki is getting better as time goes on.  He has a girlfriend at the park but I don't think he knows it.  She flirts with him, rolls over and "talks" but he isn't fully engaged yet.  They do get along splendidly.

He was dropped off for a bath at the vet's office and they sufficiently babies him so he won't have fear of that group of people.  He's still on Xanax but making improvements. All he needed was love and patience.

Reading / March was a good month for me as far as reading and NetGalley has been kind in supplying me several ARCs.  The Disappearing Act by Catherine Steadman; Mr. Nobody Catherine Steadman; Reluctantly Home by Imogen Clark and I have just started Madam by Phoebe Wynn. Madam is creepy and I can't put it down. I also finished Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman and it's my favorite of her books so far.

That's my Sunday Salon for the first week of April.  I hope everyone is well and staying safe.

Linking up with Deb at Reader Buzz for Sunday Salon.

  1. It's great that your Loki is becoming a real member of the family. Our relatives with a rescue dog are having problems too: their pup has separation anxiety which means they can't easily leave the house without him. And it's becoming possible for them to go places.

    be safe... mae at maefood.blogspot.com

    1. Mae, it's taken two months and some medication but Loki finally understands we will be back. He always wants to go with us but it's not always possible.

  2. Glad Doug's eye surgery went well!

I' just want to give Loki a bunch of belly rubs! I'm glad he is doing better. I wonder what his history is to make him anxious? Poor baby! I've never met him but I ♥ him! I'm mush when it comes to animals, especially dogs.

    1. Vicki, me too. I cry over dogs on Twitter I don't know. We will never know his background but with so many scars we wonder if he wasn't in dog fights. Possibly a dumped dog but we are making his life great now.

    1. Shellyrae, thank you. Doug is improving slowly but steadily and it's amazing what surgeons can do nowadays.

  4. We've had cool weather, especially at night, but it doesn't seem to be bothering our tomatoes (so far). I still marvel at how the plants in the pots were all killed by the freeze but what had grown out of the pots into the nearby ground all survived.

I am so glad Doug's surgery went well. My friend's husband had to have that sort of surgery a few years ago. It was very worrisome, but he recovered well.

And I'm also glad your Loki is settling in. Look what love can do. A good reminder for us all to come to all from a place of love.

  6. What a relief that your husband's eye surgery went well. My husband and my mother both have to get shots in one of their eyes every other month. The thought of that freaks me out, but if it saves their vision, it's worth it!

    Happy Spring!

  7. I'm happy to hear Doug's surgery went well and hope the recovery is just as smooth. It sounds like Loki is making great strides... and I'm sure it will be well worth the patience and effort in the end. The weather has been pretty crazy here, too... record heat followed by mornings so cold that I'm bundled up for my walk! AT least there's no snow ;-)

  10. Love Loki's ears! Our dog had massive ears like that and she was so expressive with them. So glad Doug's surgery went well and I hope he has recovered nicely. It's amazing what can be done oh so easily now but I imagine surgery on your eye is still a little nerve wracking!
