Rv and tomato update

Hello Sunday morning ....already. This week went by so fast for us. Here's the Sunday Salon update.

Loki has been having adventure going RVing with us.  Last week we saw an online deal on a newer RV while we were at Seminole State Park in Georgia.  We decided to drive up to Dothan to check it out. Long story short - we reached an acceptable deal.

It's some work transfering your belongings between the two. Additonally they had a promotion where the customer gets a Coleman grill and two large chairs.  That's great but they put the grill, in the box, inside the door so it was much maneuvering to place our belongings around it. First world problems, eh?

Last post I mentioned placing tomatoes stem side down on a cooling rack to prolong the life of the tomato.  So far it seems to work! We have gotten a few large ripe tomatoes off the plants so far and they are so sweet and flavorful.
This is one of the cherry tomatoes we have in an earth box and it's thriving as well.

Reading / I've been awful about updating my book blog and Goodreads but I have finished The Ruin by Dervla McTiernan and The Guide by Joseph Heller.  There were a few DNF books but why mention those titles.

Linking up with Deb at Readerbuzz for Sunday Salon.

  1. What fun to have a new RV! Camping like that is totally out of my experience -- years ago we occasionally used a big heavy tent, but never did it again. I hope you keep telling us your adventures.

    1. Thank you, Mae! We started off as tent campers and slowly got "fancier"

    1. Jackie, I am now at the age where the old sayiing "So many books, so little time" is hitting home. If it doesn't grab me I move on.

  3. How wonderful that you have a new RV! I am tempted to get camping gear now and then, but my husband isn't interested in sleeping on the ground again, and I'm not sure I'd go by myself. I do love to camp though...

I don't keep a list of books I DNF, but I often think I should.

Our tomatoes are just starting to turn red (eight so far) and they are fantastic.

    1. Deb, I wish Goodreads had a category as DNF. Once you log you are reading a book I don't know of anything else to do except delete it as I don't want to give something 1 star if I don't finish. We don't tent camp anymore, our backs would ache! We have a RV and it's roughly it smoothly :-)

  4. I want to travel around in an RV some day! I remember my dad kept getting newer/bigger ones. They went from a van to pulling a trailer to an RV and then a different RV and then he was talking about a "5th wheel" (?) with a "slide out" but I think they got too old and gave it up before he ever got that last one. Poor Daddy. LOL

I'll have to try that tomato trick!

    1. Jinjer, the tomato on the rack seems to work,,,so far. Like your dad, we went from tent to popup camper, pull behind travel trailer, class C to an A.

  6. I'd love to get another RV and boat. I miss having both. I love tomatoes, maybe I should check into what would be the best/easiest way to grow some. Loki is so cute!

    1. Vicki, it's a nice way to get away so it comes in handy. Especially the generator is handy if our electricty is out at home. We can still make coffee! Loki says hello!

  9. Yay for a new RV though I don't envy you the possession switching! The tomatoes look delicious. I decided not to try to grow anything this year and I'm already missing tomatoes! There's nothing like fresh tomatoes.

    1. Katherine, the possession swap was hard work! We emptied out quite a bit before picking it up but there was still a bit of inventory,. If we spend much time away next year in the RV I wn't plant tomatoes. They need that water almost every day and they looked wilted by the time we returned after for days.

  10. Oooh, a new RV! How exciting. What brand/model did you get? We are finally out again in ours for the next three weeks. It feels great to back in our little house on wheels. It's funny, but when I stepped inside to start loading the pantry and refrigerator, I told my husband that it smells like home. :)

    1. Les, we got a 2023 Hurricane, 33 foot. We stopped for the night on the way home to see if there were any issues, as you know there always are with something new. It's back in the shop as the black water tank kept registeriing zero so, a quick fix hopefully!

  11. Congrats on the new RV! How exciting. Loki looks like he wants some of that yummy wine! so cute. I'll have to try that trick out for tomatoes. They don't seem last as long as I'd like during the summer!
I really enjoyed The Ruin. I'm excited to start her new book soon. I hope you have a lovely week.

Welcome and thank you so much for visiting. If I don't answer you here I will get back to you on your blog. Also have had to switch to approving comments due to some SPAM lately. Alas...

It's been a good run...........
